THOMAS BITNAR, AIA, Dipl. Ing. Ak. Arch. has had thirty-five years of extensive experience in architecture and urban design.   His background encompasses a broad range of projects in Europe and the United States.   He is skilled in all phases of the architecture process.   In 1990, he opened Bitnar Architects, with projects in Prague, New York, and, since 1997, the Pacific Northwest.   Prior to that, Thomas Bitnar worked as a designer, job captain, and project manager for such prestigious American architecture firms as Helmuth, Obata, Kassabaum, Perkins & Will, Spector Group.   Before moving to New York, he worked with offices in Munich, Germany and Prague, Czech Republic.

Thomas Bitnar has been involved in a large variety of prominent projects, including The World Bank offices on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. for HOK; the Gun Hill Bus complex in the Bronx, New York for Perkins & Will; the design competition for a new Four Seasons Hotel in Prague; the renovation of the American Airlines Terminal at JFK International Airport; the Maimonides Medical Arts Building in Brooklyn, New York; the renovation of the Czech Mission to the United Nations in New York City.

In Montana, Bitnar is currently working on a series of spec buildings at the Big Sky Town Center and a fifty-acre urban plan for Spring Creek Development. Projects under construction include the 30,000 sq. ft. Medical Building at the Ridge Development and the Klein residence at Springhill. The WeeBee's Cafe has just opened and the Pulfrey Residence on Autumn Ridge has just been completed. Previously completed projects include the $100 million Village Downtown development of townhouses and loft condominiums, the seven-building Baxter affordable housing complex, and a 24,000 sq. ft. commercial office complex in Helena, Montana. Also in the works are the Burgard " Green" Office Buildings (I & II) and the Platinum Ridge Development.

Thomas Bitnar has participated in thirty-five national and international competitions in the course of his career, for example:   a new development for Wenceslaus Square in Prague; a residential complex in Berlin's Tiergarten section; a waterfront development in Yokohama, Japan; the new government center in Berlin; the Main and Masaryk Station development in Prague; the Scandinavian Center in Prague; the Vietnam Women's Memorial, Washington, D.C.; New York City waterfront design; the Four Seasons Hotel in Prague; the New Opera House in Oslo, Norway.  

Thomas Bitnar received his Master of Science in Real Estate Development from Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.   He was awarded a B.A. and an M.S. in Architecture from CVUT, Prague Technical University of Architecture and Town Planning and an M.S. in Architecture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.  

Thomas Bitnar is a registered architect in New York, Massachusetts, Montana, Illinois, Idaho, Wyoming and the Czech Republic.   He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the Chamber of Czech Architects, and the Royal Institute of British Architects.
